ANNUAL MEETING: SAVE THE DATE!dont forget
Save the date for The Concord Players' Annual Meeting, Sunday, March 20, 2011, 7p.m. at 51 Walden. Not only will we bring you up to date on what the board's been up to, but we'll have refreshments, an entertainment by the Traveling Concord Players, and an announcement of next year's slate of plays. Mark your calendars for a fun and informative evening!

WE LOSE A LONG-TIME PLAYER
Rev. Anna Caskey died on January 29, 2011. She had a long career in community theater, including acting in a number of plays and directing one for The Players. Memorial Service, Wed. Feb. 2, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne's In-The-Fields Church, Lincoln MA. Donations in Rev. Caskey's name may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21741-5018.

ENJOY AN EVENING OF ROMANCE
Several Concord Players actors are appearing in a series of one-act plays at Theatre III in Acton on Feb 4, 5, 11 and 12. Themed for Valentine's Day, this collection of one-acts all center on love in one form or another. Ed Bernard, Players Board member last seen on our stage in The Man Who Came to Dinner, appears in a one-act entitled Ferris Wheel, in which two people meet, get to know each other, have a brief relationship, then go their separate ways, all in the span of a ferris-wheel ride. Another Players veteran, Sandy Armstrong (hilarious as Nurse Preen in The Man Who Came to Dinner), appears in another one-act. Dessert and coffee will be served, and is included in the price of admission. Visit www.theatre3.org for more information.

AND DON'T MISS CHUCK HOLLEMAN!
Chuck is currently rehearsing Laughter on the 23rd Floor for the Nashoba Players (www.nashobaplayers.org). The play is directed by Ben Delatizky, who will be directing next winter's comedy for The Players.

NEW FACEBOOK MINDERsheehan
James Sheehan, who performed as Armand in The Scarlet Pimpernel, will be the new monitor of the Players Facebook page (see link below). James, a veteran of many area theater groups, is currently a student at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. We look forward to his management of our Facebook page, and we hope his appearing again on the stage at 51 Walden.
BUON APPETITO!!
Because Breaking Legs takes place in an Italian Restaurant, The Concord Players invite all opening-night ticket holders on February 11 to come to 51 Walden St. at 7 p.m. to enjoy traditional Italian appetizers, desserts, and beverages before the 8 p.m. performance. Our menu includes antipasto, bruschetta, polpette di carne, formaggio, cannoli, il vino rosso, il vino blanco, and homemade pizza a la cioccoletto! Venite a gustare delizie!!
      Breaking Legs
mixes the restaurant biz, show biz and gangster biz for outrageous laughs when a professor tries to interest some shady characters in backing his play. Throw in the  demanding daughter of one of the good fellas and POW! They don't call 'em HIT men for nothing. Playing February 11, 12 and 18, 19 and 20, 25, 26.

SOUND ENHANCEMENT FUND RAISING
We are very grateful for the donations that have been made by more than 100 friends of The Concord Players. We have raised 75% of our goal, thanks to our members, subscribers, actors, stage crews, volunteers and the board of directors. We sincerely hope that we can get to 100% by the opening of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on April 22. The sound evaluation committee has received bids in response to the Request for Proposal that was sent out to vendors. They are being evaluated. If we reach our goal, the contract will be awarded and we will proceed with the installation of the array of new speakers and the upgrade of hearing assistance devices. The complete list of donors will be listed in the April program of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Since the January newsletter, gifts have been given in honor of Nanci, Owen and Maggie Butler, and Harry Schecter. Checks may be sent to Concord Players, P.O. Box 22, Concord, MA 01742 or you may use our new on-line donation capability by going to www.concordplayers.org and clicking on "Donations for our New Sound System." Please help us reach our goal.
